Variety huachucensis. One of the most desirable of all agaves. Reaches about 3′ maximum size before blooming. It has beautiful symmetry with grayish leaves tipped with black spines. Even at its’ maximum size this agave retains its’ very compact appearance. It will take high teperatures and often stands in snow for a few days at a time so is very hardy. It offsets sparingly so you do not entirely lose the plant when it finally sends up the spectacular bloom stalk and sets gold flowers after many years. For low desert landscape use this agave does not establish well during the hot months. It should be shaded lightly to help it through the first summer if purchased bare root. This plant is in such demand that we have sold out every season even with an ever-expanding stock.
Size: 6-7 inches in diameter
